2-Day Advanced EASE Masterclass
Tailored for experienced EASE users, this two-day masterclass focuses on advanced topics in room acoustics and sound reinforcement system simulation & design. The course covers in-depth theories, computational principles and practical engineering applications, with the syllabus outlined below:
General Acoustic Topics
- High-resolution loudspeaker data; Background of the CDPS model; line array and subwoofer array modelling
- Signal processing tools for virtual system tuning in EASE; accurate SPL calculation principles and practices
- Definition of reverberation time; core differences between statistical models (Sabine / Eyring) and full ray-tracing RT; criteria for model selection and acoustic model calibration
- Advanced room acoustic metrics per ISO 3382: EDT, Definition (D), C80, Lateral Fraction (LF) and more
- Definition of speech intelligibility according to STI (IEC 60268-16). Background and practical application in modeling
- Ray-tracing calculation principles; absorption & scattering coefficient implementation; S-curve background and estimation of scattering
Application & Case Studies
- Validation analysis and in-depth review of selected real-world project case studies
- Modelling workflow for reverberation enhancement systems and immersive audio in EASE; including localization perception, critical distance, loudspeaker density and musical instrument acoustic characteristics
- Noise immission assessment workflow using EASE & IMMI; research background and introduction to the APS model
Dedicated Q&A and open discussion sessions are included throughout the course. Participants can exchange ideas and discuss technical challenges in acoustic simulation directly with Dr. Feistel. There will be live translation to Chinese by Johnson Chow.
Prerequisites: This is an advanced-level training course. Participants are expected to have foundational EASE skills, including room geometry creation, surface material assignment, and loudspeaker insertion & configuration. Basic software operations will NOT be covered.
Course Benefit: All attendees will receive a temporary trial license for the latest EASE 5 Pro version. The license can be activated on-site for hands-on practice, enabling full evaluation of all professional features of EASE 5.
Registration: Contact the organizer for more registration details.
