Get the New AURA Module - Boost your EASE® Calculation Performance

2019-10-08 14:15

The AURA module - available in combination with EASE® Standard - enables you to perform advanced acoustical investigations. This is made possible by AURA´s hybrid calculation engine which supports multi-threading and thus considerably reduces calculation times for full impulse responses.

AFMG® gladly announces the upgrade of the AURA module to version 4. AURA is now capable of using the entire RAM of 64-bit Windows operating systems. This memory improvement lifts the RAM limit for AURA mappings and for AURA results used for auralization. It also makes AURA 4 significantly faster. Calculation times are shortened by a factor of 2-3 for typical projects.

With AURA 4 it is easier for you to:

  • Compute mappings and auralization results with higher resolutions.
  • Calculate projects that contain a large number of loudspeakers or complex speaker systems such as line arrays and steerable columns.
  • Create auralizations for medium-sized to large projects. Binaural and B-format results computed with AURA response are not limited anymore.
  • Achieve a more realistic simulation of reflections. The standard curve for the scattering coefficient now takes into account the differences between high and low frequencies.
  • Select groups of loudspeakers for AURA mapping recombinations.

EASE® - Make the Right Choice for Your Projects

2019-10-02 14:15

Bruce Olson, Wolfgang Ahnert, Ana Jaramillo, Stefan Feistel at this year´s ICA

Ana Jaramillo and Bruce Olson – two of our representatives in the North America region – took an active role at the most recent ASA conference in Louisville and also at the ICA satellite event ISRA in Amsterdam this September. The topic of their presentations was comparing reverberation time equations and ray tracing simulations.

Design engineers and acoustic consultants working with our simulation software EASE® regularly have to consider this question when evaluating the most suitable calculation method for a specific project simulation.

Besides the reliability of the material database and the quality of the loudspeaker measurement data, this can be seen as one of the key aspects that has a great impact on the validity of simulation results.

Before starting a calculation it is highly recommended that users consider what is the optimal method for a certain project and get answers to questions like

  • "How precise can the calculation be or even needs to be?"
  • "Which method offers the best approximation of reality?"
  • "How much time do I want and how much time do I have to invest?"
  • "Do I have all data available needed for an in-depth investigation?".

AFMG´s simulation software EASE® provides solutions for different kinds of calculation levels. This FAQ gives you an overview of the different versions and the possible calculation methods they provide: "Which quality levels of calculation does EASE offer?"

If you need further assistance in finding the correct EASE® version for your projects, feel free to contact our sales team at sales@afmg.eu. We will be glad to advise you.

GUZ BOX design + audio Assumes AFMG Distribution Partnership.

2019-05-21 09:45

GUZ BOX design + audio takes over AFMG distribution partnership from Scientific Acoustic. The head of Scientific Acoustic, Peter J. Patrick, our long-standing sales partner for Australia and New Zealand, is retiring.

We would like to thank Peter for his assistance and encouragement in support, as a beta tester and also as a trainer for AFMG Software. We are proud that he has represented us with his company for so long as a partner with an excellent reputation and outstanding expertise in his region.

For years Peter has maintained excellent cooperation with Tim Kuschel, the manager of GUZ BOX design + audio, not least of which is the implementation of EASE trainings in Australia and Asia.

In this respect Tim has already rendered outstanding service for us as a highly competent EASE instructor. He has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of environmental noise measurement, building acoustics, and professional sound-system design.
Moreover, he is a member of the Australian Acoustical Society (AAS), the Audio Engineering Society (AES), and the Society of Acoustics Singapore (SAS).

Tim Kuschel´s experience as coordinator for architectural projects and professional musicians led to the foundation of his company GUZ BOX design + audio in the early 90s. Under this company he has now taken over the distribution partnership for AFMG in Australia and New Zealand effective as of April 1, 2019.

At this year´s Prolight + Sound, AFMG met with a lot of its sales partners such as from Japan, the USA, Russia, and South Korea. Tim, too, set off on his journey from down under and used the opportunity to meet us for a lively exchange and to get the latest updates on EASE® 5 development. This turned out to be an excellent starting point for the next steps of a promising collaboration.

We would like to welcome Tim on board and wish Peter all the best for his retirement!

For two years the software development has been driving forward intensively. Our main goal with this effort is the implementation of a novel room building concept and a straight-forward approach to sound system design. This gives users more time to model the room acoustics and to optimize the loudspeaker system.

The next major version of EASE will feature numerous innovations mainly aimed at more intuitive room entry.

This encompasses a state-of-the-art rendering engine, new drawing tools, enhanced management of “holes”, and improved room volume calculation. All of this makes entering rooms significantly easier and faster.

Another innovative feature is the new acoustic editor. It provides a clear overview of the different room parameters that affect the simulation results, such as humidity, average absorption coefficient and reverberation time. This new function will greatly assist EASE users in their design and decision-making process.

The new EASE version is also focused on the design of the sound-reinforcement system. Loudspeakers can be inserted, positioned, and aimed very quickly and intuitively. In addition, the new visualization of case drawings helps to manage loudspeakers much more easily. These functions give the ideal basis for the optimization of the loudspeaker system regarding design goals like coverage uniformity and speech intelligibility.

Finally, with respect to room acoustics, the management of acoustic materials has been greatly improved. A completely renewed, large database of absorbers and building materials is now only one click away. Absorption coefficients can be viewed directly in the program and the distribution of materials used within the room is visible at a glance.

Of course, AFMG´s world-renowned acoustic calculation engine will be integrated into EASE version 5 as well, ensuring that there are no compromises when it comes to the accuracy of results and performing advanced investigations.

Besides developing EASE 5, AFMG has recently introduced a number of Software Development Kits to the market. AFMG® SDKs allow equipment manufacturers to create customized plug-ins for our software and to integrate them with their own software, such as digital signal processors, control applications, and system management devices.

With its ground-breaking new feature set, EASE version 5 will become a software tool that goes beyond state of the art. It will be a major milestone for all sound system designers, acoustical consultants, and application engineers. Use this exclusive chance and be one of the first to see the new features of EASE 5 in action.
