How do I export my model from SketchUp and open it in EASE 5?

For compatibility with a wide variety of CAD software, EASE 5 is able to import DWG files.

If SketchUp is your drawing tool of preference, instead of saving your project file as a SKP file, simply export it as a DWG file as follows:

  1. Click File > Export > 3D Model…
  2. From the Export Model window that will appear, select DWG as file type
  3. Click Options and make sure only “Faces” is marked for exporting, as shown below
  4. Click Export to save the file

  5. From EASE, click File > Open. Locate the saved DWG file and open it.

Please Note:

  • Faces that have been hidden in a project within SketchUp are imported into EASE 5 as visible faces.
  • Tags are imported as Selection Sets.
  • Make sure your project is created or adjusted in SketchUp in a way that it can be used further as an acoustical model, not a fully architectural one.
